TRIPADVISOR

Alcanada Golf

Alcanada Golf

The 6.499 meter long course blends naturally into the typical mallorcan terrain. The namegiving island with its lighthouse, just off the shore, can be seen from most of the holes. Apart from the splendid sea view, the players are surrounded by pine and olive groves. Even though a young course, Alcanada is already recognized by a number of well known golf magazines and golf guides as one of the finest courses in Spain and Europe.

Sineu Market

SINEU MARKET
 A journey to mediaeval Mallorca
each Wednesday from 8am- 2pm
In Sineu a market that got started in 1306 by King James II is still held every Wednesday; historically it is one of the most important markets held on Mallorca. Sineu and other towns in the county have traditionally worked in agriculture and livestock, and this market became the main commercial clearinghouse among the farmers on the island where they could buy and sell animals and products. The stalls are set up in the Plaza del Fossar square in front of the church – where years ago the dead were buried – and the surrounding streets. This market has become a tourist attraction, and while there you can savour local treats like a good dish of frit accompanied by a glass of wine in the village bars.

On the first Sunday of every May Sineu celebrates its fair, the oldest and most popular in the country. It was set up by a privilege granted by King Sancho in 1318. You can find anything and everything at this fair: fruit, vegetables, plants, clothing, animals, chairs, flower pots… but you have to get there early as it’s so jammed by midday that it’s almost impossible to move.
. not to be missed:
Cellers:  Sineu is brimming with cellers, former wine cellars now turned into outstanding                                                                         restaurants featuring traditional cuisine, where you can savour dishes like frit and Arròs brut
